Clos de Tavannes sits on the Chassagne Montrachet border facing South and is probably the most elegant Premier Cru in Santenay. The grapes are harvested by hand and after rigorous sorting fermented with 10-20% stems. Aging takes place in oak barrels (20% new) and the wine is bottled after 15 months. It has an intriguing nose of cherries, red berries, mushrooms and forest floor. On the palate fresh flavors of cherry and strawberry are complemented by present tannins and a fresh acidity, while the finish is powerful and long.
