Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón is located in the coldest and most northerly corner of the Rioja Alta zone. It has a continental climate with an Atlantic influence and stands at an altitude of 520 metres.
There are various soil types but they are generally alluvial with lots of smooth stones, while the subsoil is basically calcareous clay on a sandstone bedrock. We cultivate a total of 25 hectares of vines, with ages between 25 and 100 years’ old. The planting density is between 3,500 and 3,800 vine plants per hectare.
Grape varieties: Tempranillo for the reds and Viura for white wine, in both cases goblet-pruned bush vines. All the vineyards are cultivated ecologically or by viticulture integrated with the environment. We practise biodiverse viticulture, agroforestry combining the vines with other plant species.
